Wife | Mother | Skin Therapist | Birth Doula
I am a Trained Birth Doula, licensed AP Esthetician, Business Owner, Mother and Wife. I am passionate about creating confidence and relaxation in women. I opened my business #FACE Day Spa in 2018, where I found my passion in helping mothers disconnect from their day to day and find relaxation in facials, waxing and beauty services. Becoming a birth doula became a passion of mine when I realized I am great with helping women find comfort, in addition to my passion of being an advocate for black women.
February of 2023 I completed my doula training through Community Aware Birthworker. Since then I have been trained in lactation, Evidence Based Birth® Childbirth Class education and experienced childbirth myself for the first time. I am currently working on completing my doula certification through CAB.
My goal as a birth doula is to provide families of color with all of the resources, education, comfort and confidence they’ll need to deliver their baby safely. Research and history has shown black women’s voices are commonly not heard in medical settings. Mortality rates in black women’s child births are very high and it’s commonly assumed black women have high pain tolerances. I believe God created all women equally and uniquely enough to handle such an amazing thing without all of the interventions and medication that medical professionals advise. Birth is beautiful and does not have to be scary or demonized. I aim to advocate for all woman in labor, by informing them of their rights and making sure that they have a voice in how they would like to labor and deliver their child.
Child birth is more than just laying on your back and pushing. Child birth is about believing in yourself and trusting your body in whatever position you feel the most empowered in.
Clients can expect me to support their family in prenatal planning, active birth and postpartum recovery planning.
